When you do Jump Rope For Heart or Hoops for Heart you are helping kids with special hearts kids like these! Meet some of the kids you can help. Read their heart stories!
Brenden, age 7
“I am grateful to the doctors for fixing my heart. I can now run and play without getting tired.”
Hi, my name is Brenden and I am 7 years old. I was born with a “special heart” and I have gone to see a cardiologist my whole life.
“I’m five years old and I have a scar on my chest because I’ve had three heart surgeries. I like riding my bike, playing Legos, and playing T-ball.”
Charlie has taken his responsibilities as his school’s Heart Ambassador very seriously and he has done a great job. He likes that he is raising money to help other children, and, most importantly, he has asked more about what makes him special.
“Since I had my surgery, I feel better than I used to. I have more energy.”
Jump Rope & Hoops For Heart are a fun thing to do. You get to help someone by doing something fun. The American Heart Association is a good thing that I have learned about, and it’s a good thing for heart patients to let people know about what they go through.
“When I walk into my pediatrician’s office they call me a miracle.”
My parents were told that I should have been very skinny and fatigued all the time but I was able to leave the NICU and go to a regular hospital room in three days, and I went home from there in two days.
“We hope all kids with sick hearts can be as lucky as Allison to have
their hearts repaired and live fulfilling lives.”
We had no idea Allison had a heart condition when she was born. Luckily
our delivery nurse noticed the blueness of her skin within the first hour of
her life.
